Christmas card trends for 2007
Holiday cards change year after year, and while the classic
red-green and white-blue designs are still available, the contemporary trends
are well pronounced on the market.
This year's cards are definitely more natural looking, featuring earthier colors and pictures
of animals in the wild. It is in sync with current attention on the
environment, recycling and sustainability. Awareness to save our planet is
spreading. Everybody from the average person to large corporations can pitch
in. The greeting card industry is reflecting the Green movement even more
this year with their Christmas card offerings as some of the cards are made of
recycled material or from sustainable forests.
Classic cards that are
reminiscent of old fashioned Christmases prefer a much warmer less traditional
color scheme. Colors of just a couple of years ago were much brighter and more
fashionable like orange and pink or pale green and light blue, since the style
of the time was more focused on girl power and femininity. The colors this year
are warmer and darker with a focus on darker greens and brown giving the cards
a cozier feel.
The cards with a tropical
theme make an appearance this year but again in darker colors, not the bright
beachy colors of past years. Even these cards are giving way to the natural, more earthy feel.
In short, this
year's selection is bound to make you think of warm blankets, firesides,
hot
cocoa and saving the earth.
